A Jacquet at Dali’s

Le Monde has just published a special issue devoted to Salvador Dali. The editorial team contacted us to obtain a visual of Alain Jacquet Catherine’s painting at Sidi R’Bat (1970-2004).

The ART & ENTREPRISE #1 exhibition invites you to discover a part of the Géotec collection, assembled by its director François Barnoud, through the works of twenty-five contemporary artists, French and foreign:

Privileged artists are preferred or whose quality and originality of the work are such that one can assume that they will be part of the history of art. Bringing together collages, paintings, photographs, videos and sculptures, the Géotec collection offers a glimpse of French and international creation of the twentieth century and allows the company to acquire a cultural heritage of great value.
The collection now has a custom box accessible free of charge to all audiences: Warehouse 9. Inaugurated in June 2012, this former workshop belonging to the Géotec company and adjoining the head office, has been renovated by the Dijon agency STUDIOMUSTARD. It also hosts the activities of the Barnoud gallery. Located at the gates of Dijon, near Line 1 of the Tram (“Cap vert” stop), this private space, unique in Burgundy, offers the best conditions for a dialogue between the Géotec collection and the artists’ proposals supported by the gallery Barnoud. Regularly, other artists will also be invited to invest the 250 m² available.
For François Barnoud, innovative entrepreneurs and artists work in the same direction: to create, to strive for excellence, to surpass themselves. This is why since 2005, as part of the new sponsorship law, he decided to involve the design office he directs in a program for the acquisition of works of contemporary art.
Michel Vidal exposes Alain Jacquet

The Michel Vidal Gallery exhibits works by Alain Jacquet throughout the fall of 2012 from October 16. Dedicated to the period of the artist’s halftone paintings, the exhibition presents paintings created in the early 2000s, inspired or directly derived from images made in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Thus, The Source , a painting freely inspired by the eponymous canvas by JD Ingres, was designed for a series of screen printing on inflatable vinyls in 1965.
In 2002, Alain Jacquet revisited this diverted icon and gave it a less anecdotal dimension. He created a large version on canvas as well as an enlarged detail of the face, enigmatic and fascinating, as if the artist was finishing a work started more than thirty years ago with intact freshness.
Also to be discovered, the magnificent Catherine on canvas, an image initially produced in 4Paysage format (33 x 22 cm) belonging to a series of tribute portraits dedicated to people close to the artist in the early 1970s. The gallery simultaneously presents the tenants and the outcomes of these works to discover or rediscover.

A Portrait d’Homme at Artcurial

Artcurial is organizing an abstract and contemporary art sale on October 23 in Paris. A Portrait d’Homme by Alain Jacquet is featured.
It is a version in green, orange and red produced in 1964 in seven copies. Alain Jacquet’s Portrait d’Homme exists in ten variants which are as many combinations with three colors, sometimes in negative, sometimes in positive.
This version was appraised by the Alain Jacquet Committee. It has the particularity of having been restored and re-coated. The canvas is signed, titled and dated on the back and has been registered in the Catalog Raisonné by Alain Jacquet.

Beaubourg Hangs A Camouflage

The National Museum of Contemporary Art hung the Camouflage Matisse, Luxe Calme et Volupté painted in 1963 by Alain Jacquet in the “Narrative Figuration” section of its permanent collection.
We remember that the museum had preempted the last auction of this work, to everyone’s surprise. With this new purchase, the Center Georges Pompidou has added a collection of works by Alain Jacquet to seven paintings. What create a small Alain Jacquet showroom ..
Alain Jacquet at the Biennale des Antiquaires

Alain Jacquet is present this year at the Biennale des Antiquaires at the Grand Palais in Paris. From 14 to 23 September, this exceptional salon staged by Karl Lagerfeld presented masterpieces in all areas of art and decorative arts. Yves Gastou, antique dealer on rue Bonaparte, installed on his stand a large canvas by Alain Jacquet, Mother and Child, negative version, in a format of 260 x 195 cm.
This unique canvas, produced in 1966, has its positive version (in the photographic sense of the term). Only the famous Geneva gallery owner and friend of Alain Jacquet, Daniel Varenne, owned the two versions. These were presented together for the last time during the Alain Jacquet retrospective at the Mamac in Nice in 2005. Yves Gastou gave pride of place to this work that thousands of visitors were able to admire during this biennial. It is an acrylic on canvas painted by hand.

La succession Alain Jacquet avait organisé le 30 mai 2011 une The Alain Jacquet estate organized a large sale on May 30, 2011 to Drouot Richelieu. In addition to a selection of works from the personal collection of Alain Jacquet (Raynaud, Smithson, Takis, Arman …), around a hundred works by the artist were offered for sale. Led brilliantly by the hammer of master Christophe Joron-Derem, this sale was an opportunity for the collection of the Center Georges Pompidou to enrich itself with a beautiful camouflage by Alain Jacquet: Camouflage Henri Matisse, Luxe, Calme et Volupté , painted in 1963.
Too bad for the last bidder in a long series of auctions that led to a dramatic change since the representative of the National Museum of Modern Art rose to announce the preemption on this camouflage. The following painting, still a camouflage, Camouflage Bronzino, Allegory of love, reached a record auction for the works of Alain Jacquet of this time by winning 70,000 euros with a hammer.
