Alain Jacquet began his pictorial work in 1960.

Between 1960 and 1961, he produced abstract works, sometimes in oil, sometimes in gouache, on paper and on canvas with manifest expressive energy.

The paintings from this period, foreshadow his following series “Images of Epinal,” which he worked on from 1961-1962.
