Jacquet Exhibits at Vallois from September 7, 2015

It’s concrete, the collaboration between the Alain Jacquet Committee and the gallery GP and N Vallois takes shape with the organization of this first exhibition dedicated to Alain Jacquet at 36, rue de Seine in Paris, from September 7 to October 11, 2015 .
Mainly devoted to Images of Epinal and Camouflage, the exhibition will present works very little seen like the large fresco on cylinders which was only offered once to the eyes, it was in 1964 at the Iolas gallery in New York…

The Marmottan Monet museum presents from February 12 to July 5, 2015 the first exhibition ever dedicated to the theme of The Toilet and The Birth of the Innermost. The exhibition brings together works by major artists from the 15th century to the present day who stage the rites of cleanliness, their spaces and their gestures.
A magnificent exhibition where we meet Dürer, Toulouse-Lautrec, Bonnard, Degas and of course, Alain Jacquet. From L’Ecole de Fontainebleau to Gaby d’Estrées, the visitor discovers new or famous scenes of women in the toilet, in complete privacy.

The Georges-Philippe and Nathalie Vallois gallery presented on its Fiac stand a work by Alain Jacquet: a camouflage from 1962 entitled “Camouflage Léda”, inspired by the famous mythological figure.
Nice entry on stage for the gallery and for Alain Jacquet, since on Wednesday October 22, the opening day, Prime Minister Manuel Valls and Fleur Pellerin, Minister of Culture, lingered on the stand. Georges-Philippe Vallois was able to briefly present his choice for this fair.
Besides Alain Jacquet, we could admire pieces by Nikki de Saint Phalle, Jean Tinguely, Alain Bublex, Henrique Oliveira, Gilles Barbier, Jacques Villéglé, César and Julien Berthier.
A Camouflage by Alain Jacquet at Paul Kasmin

The famous New York gallery Paul Kasmin presents since March 6 an exhibition-tribute to the great gallery owner Alexandre Iolas (1908-1987), who was, in the 1960s, one of the most dynamic professionals on the international art scene.
In 1945, Iolas opened his first gallery in New York. In 1964, he moved to Paris, at 196 boulevard Saint-Germain: he made it one of the cultural highlights of the capital, also creating branches in Geneva, Zurich, Milan, Athens. He defends the surrealists (among others: Brauner, Max Ernst, Magritte and Matta); but also claims new values, linked to pop art with Warhol or new realism with Niki de Saint-Phalle, Tinguely or Martial Raysse.
Jean Tinguely had presented Alain Jacquet to Iolas in 1963, who devoted a very beautiful retrospective of the Camouflage series to him the following year. Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Leo Castelli and many others were present during the opening, alongside an Alain Jacquet himself camouflaged in a costume cut from a military canvas.
The Paul Kasmin gallery pays homage to Iolas today by presenting works from his major New York exhibitions in the 1960s. The Jasper Johns Three flags camouflage, signed Alain Jacquet, is on display there until April 26. 2014.
